About me
I am a researcher focused on supporting a just, orderly, and equitable transition away from fossil fuels in energy systems – working at the intersection of climate, justice, human rights and development.
My research has helped shape global discussions on fossil fuel phaseout and seeded ideas that are now shaping how policymakers and campaigners think about tackling climate change.
My work has spanned the UK, Iraq, Canada, India, the Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC), Azerbaijan, and Kazakhstan. I also provide research and strategic insights that help organisations understand the complexities of energy transitions and influence policies that drive meaningful change.
My current research focuses on three thematic areas:
-
The science of fossil fuel phaseout.
-
Equitable fossil fuel phaseout.
-
Economic transition in countries dependent on fossil fuels.
I am an Honorary Research Fellow at University College London (UCL), a Senior Associate at the International Institute for Sustainable Development (IISD), and a member of the Extraction Equity Working Group. I do consulting work with thinktanks, civil society organisations, universities, and foundations.
I hold a Bachelor’s degree in Physics and Philosophy from the University of Oxford, and a Master’s degree in Energy Economics from UCL.
I live in Gloucestershire in the UK.
